To start at the beginning, I was born at a very early age... My name is Donna Thomas and I originate from the Elkhart/Goshen/Middlebury Indiana area. I have always lived in Michigan but I would navigate a short commute daily to Indiana to work in the RV industry. I have about 20 years total working in the RV manufacturing industry. I have worked in plants that have varied from pop-up truck campers to the large and in-charge diesel pushers, and everything in between, and for a variety of manufacturers, the last one being Coachmen Ind.
Unfortunately, my husband became disabled so we decided that we needed a change of scenery for his physical and mental health. We decided to throw all of our eggs into one basket, take our puppy-pack and head south. I had such a good experience with my employers at Coachmen that I decided to buy a brand new unit from them, so I got the privilege of helping to build my very own rig! (Technically, I got paid to build my own camper, now that was a good day!)
We have landed in the Rio Grande Valley at a 55+ RV community that we love, so we have decided to transition from just "Winter Texans" to "Converted Texans"...but it's not time to retire yet, so the natural next step in our story would, of course, be based on our love for RVs and full-time RV living.
RV inspection comes quite naturally for me because I love being in them, paying attention to the smallest details that tell the story of the rig. My brother tells me that RVs are like onions, they have layers... between you and me, I think he let the grandkids watch Shrek one too many times! So, if you would like me to help to you peel back the layers and tell the story of your RV (and have fun doing it), then give me a call, I'm open to discuss any inspection or consultation needs that you have.
Why is an RV Inspection Important?
Safety
An RV is a complex machine that has many differing systems and components that could be potential safety hazards if improperly installed or maintained.
A pre-purchase inspection can identify any safety issues that would need to be addressed before you would take possession of the vehicle.
Value
A pre-purchase inspection can help you to determine whether the price being asked for the RV is fair and reasonable based on its condition and features.
If the inspection uncovers any issues, you may be able to negotiate a lower price or require the seller to fix the problems before you complete the purchase.
Condition
An RV can be a significant investment; you want to make sure that you are getting a unit that is in good condition (new and used).
A pre-purchase inspection can help to identify any issues with the RVs mechanical systems, electrical systems, appliances, and overall condition that might not be obvious or visible to the untrained eye.
Peace of Mind
By having a professional inspection it helps you to make an informed decision about whether the RV is the right choice for you and your needs. Plus, it will help you to avoid any unpleasant surprises down the road.
